Wow where to start? Ok well I got to Heathrow on the tube, and it was nothing spectacular. I think it was Nate, Ally, and myself that were together on the tube. The train was uneventful really. We talked to some kid from Australia that was going home for the first time in months. Nothing too spectacular. We got to the airport and checked in with our E-tickets. I somehow managed to check my bag half an hour earlier than everyone else. I guess I'm special. So we waited around for 30 min while Nate and Dave got their bags checked. Yup. After that we got through security with no real hang-ups. I had to get frisked... not a big deal. I then saw a sony store and saw some DSLR's I wouldn't mind trying. I really liked them and wished my camera was a bit better (that will happen over summer with new lenses). I went down stairs found Nate, and we went off looking for food.
There was a great deal at some bagel place that was kind of out of the way, but it was worth it. I had a ham and cheese bagel and coke zero for like 3 pounds. Nate had the same. Got on the plane, and read my book the whole way. My iPod I found out is all but useless now. The headphone jack is fubar'd and only plays out the left ear unless I keep constant pressure on it. Oh well, I've been due for a new iPod as mine has been rather beat up over the past 3-4 years that I've had it.
We landed in Geneva, got on the tour bus, got to the hotel, and slept. Woke up at like 6 for some Rondo Doge tour in Burgdorf. I was beyond tired with only a few hours of sleep, and passed out on the train. Two hours after the train ride we got there and we were two hours early. Well, it's cool that we get free time, but that place was beyond boring. A small town with nothing, literally nothing, to do in it. Ok yeah, you can "shop" there, but shopping in a small town is like shopping in Selinsgrove without the mall or Walmart. It was pointless. We were hungry, Nate, Dave and I, and proceeded to look for some grub. Sad thing is that in Switzerland, all the food is rediculously expensive. We ended up going to some grocery store, and nate and I bought a drink and a plain baguette. Yum. It actually tasted good, but satisfying? not in the least bit. Should have grabbed a Snickers.
After eating that meal that made me immagine I was from Aladdin being a poor street urchin. We just wandered back to the train station and sat in the class room for like an hour and a half with Steve and Mike. There was a man 50 yards away playing the clarinet, and it got really goddamn annoying. Finally it was time for the tour and we walked through the town more. Up into the castle was the most interesting part of the walk... but then again I was constantly reminded I was wearing business casual because of the pain in my feet due to the totally wrong shoes for walking. We eventually came to Rondo Doge and started the tour.
Firstly was a presentation about the company, which taught me nothing about business as a whole. It was more like a presentation to potential customers. The room was hot, the presentation plenty boring. It was hard to stay awake, but I managed. We proceeded to tour their manufacturing stuff. That was pretty excruciating. I'm sorry, that was not interesting in the least bit. The best part was the free pastries at the end. However those hardly made up for the trip.
Onwards back to the train. I'll save you the rest of this day from my personal hell by not writing about it cause there's nothing to write about, a pretty recurring theme in Switzerland as you'll find out.
The next day... oh what a day. Up early again for a tour of the UN and the Red Cross. The UN thing... Oh God... terrible. The presentations were even harder to stay awake for than the Rondo Doge one. Luckily I was prepared with my book, which has saved me this whole trip, and read that. For lunch, dave and I ran outside to the nearest super market. I grabbed an energy drink and some big ass sub with barely any meat on it. It really is not surprising why the european women are not large... just look at the size of their meals, it's nothing.
Well then it all just went to hell and I cried the rest of the time. Carlos was cool though.
